Excel Lesson
Here is a lesson plan that is quite basic. It is a community service calculating spreadsheet. It allows the students to use the "SUM" function to total up all of there hours. Also, this is a pretty cool lesson to teach the students about the important things you would need to know about how to work a basic spreadsheet on Excel. This lesson allows the students to set a goal and figure out how and when they would need to put hours in. Like I said before, it is a very basic lesson but it really focuses on the basics of Excel. After working on the project we had this week, I found myself coming back to the basics because it had been so long since I have used Excel. I think Excel is a very important educational tool that could be used in many varietal ways.

I think that this is a great lesson plan for students, especially high school students that are planning to apply to colleges. I remember having a hard time trying to keep up with my community service hours throughout my high school career. Because getting accepted into certain colleges is getting more and more competitive, community service is one of the areas that makes a student more well-rounded and can increase a student's chances. This lesson can help students involved with community service keeps their dates, hours, and places more organized and readily available. Also, this lesson would be valuable in schools that require a certain amount of community service hours per student.
