I found a lesson plan on water usage using microsoft excel. Students are asked to find out how much water their family uses on a Saturday. They record their findings in excel and then can compare and analyze their data with other students in the class. Once all the data has been collected, students in the class can then discuss ways to cut down on water usage and the importance of saving water. This lesson is perfect for students in upper elementary, middle, and high school.
The microsoft website includes tons of lesson plan ideas using excel!
I saw this lesson plan when I was researching on the microsoft website as well. I actually did a similar type activity (but without excel) when I was in AP environmental science in high school. I think this would be a great lesson to incorporate into Microsoft Excel. However, like you said it may only be able to be used by upper grades since it might be a little more difficult. I think it would be harder for younger kids to understand this type material in younger grades. But this looks like a very fun and interesting thing for students to engage in!
ReplyDeleteI think this activity could be helpful in a lot of ways. Students would get good practice in with Excel, as well as possibly learning about water conservation, and practicing comparing and contrasting information. It's a pretty good lesson plan and seems like it could be use in mostly all grade levels.
