1. Microsoft Word-
I think that Micrososft Word is the most imporant software for students to learn. Students will have to use this software all their lifes. From school projects and papers to letters and papers for work. I think it is very important students learn how to work Word and the skills to use Word in elementary school. I also think the tools such as spell check and grammar check help them learn how to correctly spell and use grammar.
2. Microsft Powerpoint-
I think Microsoft Powerpoint would be the next important software for students to learn. Students will also have to use this program all through out school and work to make presentations. I think this program also pushes creativity out of students because of how much you can do with powerpoint.
3. Microsoft Publisher-
I think Microsfot Publisher would be the next important software for students to learn. There is so much you can do with publisher. From making brochures, calenders, or newsletter. Students could do incredible projects with this software and they are fun. A lot of times students are asked to do this with just paper and markers and in today's time students like being on the comuter more. They can also take these skills and use them at work in the future.
4. Microsoft Excel-
I think that Microsoft Excel is another important software to learn. This software does a lot more than waht most people know. I think it is important for students to learn to skillfully use this program. One day they will be able to take these skills into the work place and most likely they will be skills in the program others might not have.
***I think that students should have to take a course in school on how to use all four of these programs becuase it is very important for their future.***
5. Photo and Video Editing-
I picked this software mostly becuase it is a software I wish I knew how to use. My photo editing skills are very limited and I do not know how to edit video's at all. I think that students should learn how to do this at a young age for the sole purpose that photos and videos are a huge part of school and work now.
Jessica, I think you made a valid point by putting Photo and video editing on your list. When I was making my list, I didn't even consider this. I feel that students would really benefit if they are gradually guided through the steps of video editing, and I think they could really use this knowledge to their advantage once they escalate through their academic career and job field. Just as you mentioned, I wish that I knew more about this area or could have had someone teach me at least the basics on video editing.
